As everyone knows, my project for this year’s Science Fair was about the US History. We focused on what had happened in the past and what may happen in the future. Among many things, we told the people what was the I and II World War and how was the participation of the United States, the Great Depression, the Cold War and the 9/11 attacks. After that, we tried to make some previews of what the future might hold for America.
My part of the project presentation was the present (2000 – 2011) and I talked about some facts that happened in the beginning of the 21st century, the 9/11 attacks, the 2008 elections and the economic crisis. When passing through the dark moments of the worst terrorist attack America has ever seen, I showed a documentary called “102 minutes that changed America” (actually, some parts I cut), obviously giving credits to History Channel.
After me, a girl from my group talked about the US future. She mentioned the FTAA (Free-Trade Area of the Americas), the possible rise of jobs and the influences America makes through movies and music. Eventually, I left a question to the public: “Will the 21st century also be an American century? Or another powerful nation will rise and overcome America’s power?”. [What do you think? The Star-Spangled Banner could be heard in the end of the presentation as well as New York, New York by Frank Sinatra played in the beginning and Not Afraid by Eminem in the middle of it.
I’m confident we have the chance to win but the result will come out next month, that means, it’ll take a while. Thank God our classroom was always full and a queue was made in front of the door by the people who were expecting for the next session to begin. It gave us the impression that our project was really good, everyone praised. That’s good.
If you want to see some pictures of our classroom all organized and decorated, take a look at the post before this one. 😀
I hope you enjoyed!
